О сериале

Dragon Ball Z – японский анимационный сериал, производимый студией Toei Doga (ныне Toei Animation). Является продолжением аниме Dragon Ball, охватывающего первые 16 глав (из 42) манги Акиры Ториямы «Жемчуг дракона». Dragon Ball Z создан по последним 26 главам.

Серия рассказывает о приключениях Гоку, который вместе со своими спутниками защищает Землю (и другие планеты) от различных суперзлодеев. Dragon Ball является повествованием о детстве и юношестве Гоку, а Dragon Ball Z – о его взрослой жизни и созревании его первого сына Гохана. Между ранними и поздними сериями есть существенная разница. Эпизоды в «Драконий жемчуг Зет» становятся более драматичными и серьёзными с появлением злодеев, угрожающих общей безопасности или совершением массовых убийств или геноцида. Единственные, кто может остановить их, это Гоку и его компаньоны, часто называемые Воинами Зет (The Z Fighters). Аниме является продолжением оригинального «Жемчуг дракона», но события не связаны с предыдущим сезоном.
