Italian actress, Sylvia De Fanti was actually born in Montreal, while her father – an international business man – was working there. Becoming a fluently multi-lingual, globe-trotting stage and screen performer was pre-ordained. At age 2, her parents moved the family to Panama, before moving again, this time to Hong Kong. It was here, starting school at age 5, that Sylvia learned to speak, read and write in English, attending a private, English-language school. Her parents decided it was important to them that Sylvia and her brother Roberto (now a European Football agent) be raised in their native Italy, and so at age 12, her family returned to Rome. As a teen she was often approached by modeling agents who aggressively pursued her, intent on convincing her to pursue that career, but Sylvia had no interest in such things. Ten years later, she moved to Paris, where she perfected her French, studied Theatre and graduated with a Masters Degree in Cultural Anthropology, from the University at the Sorbonne. Returning again to Rome, she continued her acting training and began her career in theatre, film and television. In 2004, with her degree, she co-founded first Angelo Mai, which now has a revered global status as “the” must-visit cultural center in Rome, and then co-founded Teatro Valle Occupato an “Occupy” project of one of the Eternal City’s most important historical theaters. The project at Valle was been bestowed with several European humanitarian and cultural awards. Sylvia has worked with lauded American, Italian, French and Spanish directors. She initially gained popularity as a series regular on Italy’s hugely popular and longest-running television series, “Incantesimo”. Her work on-stage in Italy and Spain, has yielded major praise from critics across Europe and in London.
