Joanne Miller is a writer, actor and stand up comedienne who works in film, television, and live on stage. She plays Justina Epp in PURE airing right now on CBC and Hulu. A reoccurring performer for TV with TV’s Jonathan Torrens, she has also appeared in SEED, Haven, Mr. D, Call me Fitz, Mr. Happy and in many other films and television shows. Known as MJ in the comedy world, she recently staged a one hour stand up special called GOD MADE ME THIS WAY! which will be performed at Grand Prairie Live Theatre in Alberta this fall. Her sketch comedy can be seen on her popular Youtube channel: MJ. In 2014, her sit com, Dear Stella, was voted top 30 in the CBC Comedy Coup pitch contest. She has worked across the country performing on stage at the Stratford Shakespearean Festival, Theatre Passe Muraille in Toronto, The Globe, The Grand, Neptune, The Banff Centre as well as many others. Her work has been recognized with nominations for two Merritt Awards and an Actra Award. She played the lead on CBC’s popular series Backbencher, which took home a prestigious New York Festivals award. She also played the lead in the Gemini award-winning TV series Olliver’s Adventures. Joanne’s comedic plays: Habit of Murder, Cradle and All, The Book of Joy and The Creation of Molly Carter have sold out theatres such as Neptune Theatre, Ship’s Company Theatre, Eastern Front Theatre and now are being performed across Canada in many theatres in Ontario and Alberta.
