Corey Champagne was born and raised in Atlanta, Ga, where his desire to fulfill a career in Film & Music took shape. Named after character Corey Baker of the groundbreaking ’60s series ‘Julia’, it seems that from birth he was destined for the spotlight. Although naturally gifted, Corey credits his formal acting training to the renowned Alliance Theatre starting at age six. While attending Alliance he was selected as a Junior Player and won the lead in ‘The Case of the Missing Metaphors’. Musically, Corey’s influences stem from classic Soul, R&B and Pop. As a graduate of North Springs Arts & Science Charter School (alumni include Usher & Raven-Symone), he immersed himself in multiple facets of the arts including Drama,Chorus, Photography, Broadcasting and Musical Theatre. He also began writing his own songs and utilized his soulful baritone vocals towards classical, jazz, rock & even ragtime compositions. Corey was also chosen one of only 10 select student composers where he co-wrote & starred in the music video for the Jon Lennon Tour Bus. Fiercely determined to be heard, Corey performed every chance he got. Notably, he successfully won over the notorious crowd at the World Renowned Apollo Theatre’s Amatuer Night in Harlem,NY. During his first year of college at Florida A&M University, Corey worked under the tutelage of Dr. Kwachi Clemons & Hip-Hop Pioneer Christopher “Play” Martin for the schools budding Hip-Hop Institute. Eventually, Corey transferred to Georgia State University to study Film & Video and secured an internship with noted photographer Derek Blanks. In addition to various local theater productions, Corey has been featured in Rolling Out Magazine, on the Food Network and still takes weekly acting classes to keep his skills sharp. His credits include The CW series ‘The Originals and a season long arc on the Netflix series ‘Seven Seconds’.
