An actor born and raised in Angola (southwest Africa), Hoji moved to New York in 2008 to pursue a career in acting. He has since been working both in film, TV and theatre in the U.S., Europe and Africa. Hoji is an African-Oscar winner for his performance as César in international crime-drama ‘Viva Riva!’ (official selection at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival and 2011 Berlinale, Best African Film at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards). He started his acting career as a comedy actor in Portugal working mainly in TV. In addition to ‘Viva Riva!’ he performed in ‘Meanwhile’ from acclaimed indie director Hal Hartley, ABC TV series Pan Am, ‘Afronauts’ and Brooklyn-based drama ‘In The Morning’, among other projects. Hoji is also the author of New York for Actors, a e-manual for new and spiring actors wanting to develop their careers in the United States. His diverse and unique cultural background together with his fluency in various languages and a suave and distinguished classic demeanor make him an actor with a remarkable performing signature.
